Anzac Day mail-out
Each year, DVA promotes the observance of Anzac Day by distributing commemorative posters and educational resources to schools, ex-service organisations, aged-care facilities and community groups.
The 2020 Anzac Day mail-out went out to more than 17,800 recipients across the country. This year’s Anzac Day poster has both a Second World War and Navy theme and features the sinking of the Bartolomeo Colleoni by HMAS Sydney in July 1940.
In addition to the Anzac Day poster, the mail-out includes the education resource Australian Women in War: Service, Courage and Care, a Wartime Snapshot featuring a short essay based on this year’s poster, and a series of classroom activities for students.
Also included in the mail-out are History in Focus cards, commemorating significant moments in Australian military history featuring:
- the 50th Anniversary of Operation Hammersley in the Vietnam War
- the 25th Anniversary of the Rwanda Peacekeeping Mission: Operation TAMAR
- the origins of the word ‘Anzac’.
Flyers and resources brochures highlight new online electronic resources, teaching activities and the Saluting their Service Commemorative grants program.
All the resources are free and available online at the Anzac Portal at the links above.
